This week has seen a return to a more normal school programme with not one dance practice! There has been a fantastic vibe left over from our school production. Children are still enjoying and relishing the memories created on production night. The performance was recorded and is in the process of being edited. We will keep you posted once this is complete.
We have had two groups visiting our school during the week. Manchester Street School from Feilding visited to look at and talk to us about our collaborative teaching and spaces. They were blown away by our school and students. As they walked through our different learning environments they continually commented to me on the engagement and calmness of our students. They were impressed by a real sense of enjoyment around the school. These comments are a credit to our tamariki, kaiako and support staff that work hard to make Hokowhitu School what it is. It is also a credit to you, our parents, caregivers and the wider school community that work together and support our school in many ways. Our tamariki come to school each day with a positive attitude, and a readiness to learn. On Wednesday, a class of adult learners visited from English Language Partners. We had a mihi whakatau with the kapa haka group welcoming our manuhiri, and our guests replying. For many of these manuhiri, it was their first time in a New Zealand school. They were impressed with the learning they saw, the wall displays, the use of nature in our lessons, and our amazing play facilities. They said the school was beautiful, exciting, and a happy place. They were taken by our Wacky Wig Day and contributed $72.90 to the cause.
